Airport Firefighting (ARFF)

The complexities of airport operations, combined with the critical need for rapid response, demand equipment that can endure the rigors of an airport environment.

Dependable ARFF equipment

Airport firefighters operate in one of the most high-stakes environments in the fire and rescue industry - from responding to aircraft emergencies and fuel fires to managing hazardous materials and ensuring passenger safety.

We understand the unique challenges you face, and we engineer our products to meet them head-on.

The Jaws of Life

For over 50 years, we have been the creator, the innovator, and the industry pioneer. Our extrication tools by the Jaws of Life are the leaders in the industry, evolving to meet the demands of modern automotive and construction materials.

We launched the first HURST Jaws of Life rescue tool and the first eDRAULIC battery-powered tool, and we’ll continue to bring innovation to rescuers everywhere.

Hale’s 8FG Pump

Hale’s 8FG was designed specifically for high flow industrial firefighting applications. Built utilizing the popular G gearbox, the 8FG is manufactured for reliable operation. The compact design requires less space in your truck freeing up space for water, foam, or equipment.

Optimizing ARFF operations

In 2002, Akron Brass started working with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Fire Research Group at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. The AFRL is responsible for developing new equipment and techniques to meet evolving firefighting needs around the world.

The lab found that applying Class B foams at pressures up to 1,200 psi could significantly reduce the amount of agent needed. This concept may enable handling larger fires with fewer or smaller ARFF units. Akron Brass has since worked with AFRL to design a remote-control monitor, monitor nozzle, and handline nozzle to handle high-pressure foam streams.
