Akron Brass recognizes with respect the passing of Dan Peters, former President of Akron Brass, who passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 65. 

Dan’s time with Akron Brass, from 1996 to 2008, marked a defining period of growth, transformation, and customer-focused innovation. Serving as President for a decade, he helped shape the direction of the organization while reinforcing the values that continue to guide the business today. 

Throughout his career, Dan built his leadership from the ground up; beginning in sales, advancing through roles including National Sales Manager and Vice President, and ultimately serving as President. His journey reflected a deep understanding of the industry and the people who drive it forward. 

Those who worked alongside him remember a leader who held high expectations, but also created an environment where people were trusted, empowered, and motivated to succeed. Dan was known for his belief that strong relationships and commitment to customers were the foundation of lasting success. He consistently challenged teams to deliver more, think bigger, and never lose sight of the people relying on their work. 

“Dan lived by a ‘work hard, play hard’ mindset,” shared David Durstine, Vice President of Sales. “We pushed ourselves every day, but we also built a culture where people genuinely enjoyed being part of the team. The customer always came first with Dan; he made sure we did the right things and empowered people to follow through.”  

During his tenure, Dan played a key role in expanding Akron Brass through strategic growth and acquisitions, helping position the organization for long-term success. He also championed the integration of new products and solutions that would better serve the evolving needs of firefighters and emergency responders.  

Beyond his professional achievements, Dan will be remembered for his character. He valued loyalty, believed strongly in mentorship, and was generous with both his time and knowledge. He built lasting friendships across the organization and the broader fire service community, leaving an impact that extended far beyond his role. 

Dan had a deep respect for firefighters and the work they do. He never lost sight of the purpose behind the products and solutions Akron Brass provides, supporting those who serve on the front lines. That perspective helped guide decisions, shape priorities, and reinforce a culture centered on service. 

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie; his children, Chelsea Darley with her husband Ryan and Elliott Peters with his wife Mallory; his stepchildren, Jordan Stout  with her husband Nick and Tanner Weaver with his wife Mackenzie; and seven grandchildren, all of whom were incredibly important to him. 

Dan Peters leaves behind a legacy defined by leadership, integrity, and a genuine commitment to people. His influence continues to be felt within Akron Brass and across the industry he dedicated his life to.
