(WOOSTER, Ohio) Eight Ohio-based fire and safety equipment manufacturers will host an event at Akron Brass Company for federal, state and local officials on Tuesday, September 27th to showcase the many fire safety and rescue products manufactured by Ohio suppliers. Congressman Jim Renacci and Congresswoman Betty Sutton are scheduled to be featured speakers at the event.  The purpose of the event is to illustrate the quality products made in Ohio to protect lives all over the world and promote the importance of the emergency equipment industry to the state’s economy.  The fire and emergency equipment industry in Ohio represents approximately 9,000 jobs and ranks sixth in the U.S. in employment.  

WHAT:  The event will include a program featuring comments by Chief Michael Warner, President of the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association; Ken Creese, VP of Sales at Sutphen Corp and member of FAMA/FEMSA Government Affairs Committee; Congressman Jim Renacci, 16th District and Congresswoman Betty Sutton, 13th District. Following the program, guests will have the opportunity to view fire trucks, an ambulance, and life-safety fire equipment built in Ohio and tour the Akron Brass manufacturing facility.

DATE: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 

TIME: 11:30 – 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon for VIP’s attending and a brief program about the impact of the fire equipment industry on Ohio’s economy will be offered.  The showcase will feature displays and equipment demonstrations available from representatives of the Fire and Emergency Equipment Manufacturers and Services Association (FEMSA) and the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers Association (FAMA). Time will be given to the media for questions following the program.

Action Coupling & Equipment, Holmesville;  Akron Brass, Wooster; FSI North, Sheffield Lake; Horton Ambulance, Grove City; Sutphen Corporation, Amlin; Lion Apparel, Dayton; Will-BurtCompany, Orrville ; Honeywell First Responder Products, Dayton.  There are 17 Ohio companies involved in manufacturing and distribution for the fire equipment industry.
